Dr Jenna Hounslow

Research Scientist (Turtle Monitoring)

Jenna has been involved with the North West Shelf Flatback Turtle Conservation Program (NWSFTCP) since 2018, initially as a PhD student and long-term collaborator. Jenna joined the NWSFTCP team as a Research Scientist in 2026, where she oversees monitoring programs and contributes to research that supports the conservation and management of flatback turtles. 

Jenna has collaborated with a diverse global research network on projects spanning marine turtle ecology, animal movement, and emerging analytical techniques. She has worked closely with Traditional Owners and Indigenous Ranger groups, with a strong focus on building meaningful partnerships that bring together cultural and scientific knowledge to support marine turtle conservation and strengthen collective Connection to Country. 

Passionate about translating cutting-edge science into practical conservation outcomes, Jenna has worked with a range of marine megafauna and has extensive experience in remote fieldwork, movement ecology, and the analysis of complex ecological datasets. She has contributed to numerous scientific publications and is particularly interested in applying emerging technologies and advanced analytical approaches to answer ecological questions at previously unattainable scales, helping to inform the management of marine turtles and their habitats.
